This tool has been developed to explore the expression of genes in different cell types or tissues - giving a visual representation of both the tissue-specific expression of genes and the network relationships of their protein products.
The waever tool brings together three main types of data: tissue/sample-specific gene expression data; protein-protein interaction data; and
protein annotation. Together, they create an informative picture of functional relationships within a specific biological (tissue or cell-type) context. (click here to see a short video)
As more samples become available this will enable comparison of a range of normal human cell types or tissues with important disease or toxicology-relevant model cell lines, helping to answer the important question, "how similar is my in vitro model to the in vivo reality?"
